About
Iridium World Communications Ltd. filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in August 1999, after which it continued to operate under court supervision as a debtor-in-possession. Prior to this, as of March 31, 1999, the company held an ownership stake in and was actively involved in managing its parent organization, Iridium LLC. This parent company, in turn, was the proprietor of Iridium Operating LLC, commonly referred to as Iridium. Iridium Operating LLC functioned as a global wireless telecommunications provider, enabling its users to make and receive phone calls, as well as receive paging services, from virtually any location worldwide. The company's primary corporate base is situated in Hamilton, Bermuda.
