About

The Rowe Companies, Inc., a holding entity, specialized in manufacturing and marketing home furnishings throughout the United States through its various subsidiaries. The company operated primarily through two divisions: Wholesale Home Furnishings and Retail Home Furnishings. The Wholesale segment was responsible for designing and producing a wide array of upholstered items, such as sofas, loveseats, benches, ottomans, and chairs, including occasional and sleep sofas, all covered in fabric. It also crafted leather accent pieces like chairs, benches, and ottomans. In contrast, the Retail Home Furnishings segment provided customers with upholstered and leather furniture, case goods, dining sets, rugs, and various home accessories. These products were distributed through its own retail outlets, catalogs, and online platforms. Originally established in 1946 as Rowe Furniture Corporation, the company rebranded as The Rowe Companies, Inc. in March 1999. Its headquarters were located in McLean, Virginia. The Rowe Companies, Inc. initiated a voluntary Chapter 11 reorganization filing on September 18, 2006, with the US Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, Alexandria. This reorganization was subsequently approved as a Chapter 11 liquidation on October 25, 2007.
