The company structures its diverse operations into three main segments. Its Wealth and Asset Management Businesses arm offers a variety of investment vehicles, such as mutual funds and exchange-traded funds, along with group retirement and savings plans, and institutional asset management. These services are delivered through the company's network of affiliated agents and brokers, securities brokerage firms, independent financial advisors, pension plan consultants, and banking partners. The Insurance and Annuity Products segment provides deposit and credit offerings, a full spectrum of individual and group life insurance, individual and group long-term care insurance, and various guaranteed and partially guaranteed annuity products. These are distributed via insurance agents, brokers, banks, financial planners, and direct marketing channels. The Corporate and Other segment is responsible for property and casualty insurance, reinsurance activities, and manages run-off reinsurance portfolios, including those related to variable annuities, and accident and health. In addition to these core offerings, Manulife also oversees timberland and agricultural investment portfolios. Its comprehensive financial involvement extends to insurance agency functions, portfolio and mutual fund management, mutual fund dealing, and a range of life, annuity, long-term care, and financial reinsurance services. The corporation also provides investment management, counseling, advisory, and dealer services. Manulife Financial Corporation was founded in 1887 and is headquartered in Toronto, Canada.
