AUO Corporation, established in 1996 and headquartered in Hsinchu City, Taiwan, is a leading technology company primarily engaged in the research, development, production, and sale of thin-film transistor liquid crystal displays (TFT-LCDs) and a wide array of other flat panel display technologies. The company's operations are strategically divided into two main segments: Display and Energy. Within its Display division, AUO not only manufactures core TFT-LCD panels but also expands its product portfolio to include TFT-LCD modules, television sets and their components, backlight units, automotive displays, and precision plastic parts. Furthermore, it develops and produces critical components like indium gallium nitride (InGaN) epi wafers, chips, LED packages, and modules, alongside providing sales and support for TFT-LCD panels. In the Energy segment, AUO is actively involved in the solar power value chain. This encompasses the manufacturing of solar ingots, wafers, and modules, as well as offering extensive technical engineering and maintenance services for solar system projects. The company also generates solar power directly. Beyond these principal areas, AUO diversifies its business across numerous other ventures. This includes the development, sale, and leasing of content management systems and associated hardware; the planning, design, and execution of environmental protection construction projects; and the design, manufacturing, and sale of medical equipment. The company also provides specialized software and hardware solutions for the healthcare industry, along with integrated systems and consulting services for intelligent manufacturing. Additional services extend to educational activities, site rentals, intellectual property management, and investment services. AUO maintains a significant international footprint, conducting business across the People's Republic of China, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore, and various other global markets. The company was previously known as AU Optronics Corp. before officially rebranding to AUO Corporation in June 2022.
