US President Donald Trump said he had a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. "It was a good conversation, but not one that will lead to immediate peace," Trump wrote on Truth Social. 

The conversation lasted about 1 hour and 15 minutes, he said. Among other things, they discussed attacks "that have been carried out by both sides" as well as the recent Ukrainian drone attack on Russian military airfields. According to Trump, Putin told him that Russia would respond to that operation. 

The Kremlin confirmed the phone call but promised to reveal details later, reported by Russia's Interfax news agency. 

On 2 June, Ukraine and Russia held the second round of talks in Istanbul, which resumed after a three-year break. The talks lasted a little over an hour. The only concrete outcome of the meeting was agreements on humanitarian issues - the exchange of bodies of dead military personnel, seriously ill and critically ill prisoners of war, as well as prisoners under 25 years of age. Russia did not agree to an unconditional cease-fire and suggested that Ukraine establish a cease-fire only for 2-3 days on certain parts of the front in order to pick up the bodies of the dead;
