In the realm of defense electronics and security, the company delivers sophisticated command and control systems, radar and sensor technologies, optronics, advanced communication systems, electronic warfare capabilities, avionics, air traffic management solutions, and integrated defense systems. It also specializes in cybersecurity and resilience, critical communication infrastructure, digitalization initiatives, and monitoring services. For the space industry, Leonardo provides geoinformation services, satellite communication technologies, ground support systems, navigation solutions, and satellite operational expertise. Its advanced offerings include interplanetary probes, orbiting modules, robotics and drilling equipment, electro-optics, laser transmitters, atomic clocks, photovoltaic panels, power distributors and amplifiers, attitude sensors, and orbital micropropulsion systems. Furthermore, Leonardo is involved in the manufacturing and assembly of crucial structural components, both composite and metallic, for commercial and military aircraft, helicopters, and unmanned aerial vehicles. The company also offers automation solutions for significant logistical operations, such as airport baggage handling systems, mail sorting centers, and courier logistics hubs. Established in 1948 and based in Rome, Italy, the company was previously known as Leonardo - Finmeccanica S.p.a. before officially changing its name to Leonardo S.p.a. in January 2017.
